UPZ Ski Boots: Users Report a Lengthened Skiing Day.
UPZ Boots Austria is now manufacturing ski boots. Their small family run operation is continuing its reputation for putting dedicated racing technology into all of their gear, with a complete shake up of existing ski boot designs.
What if a ski boot company set their engineers free to collaborate with skiers and create an entirely new design, from the sole up? UPZ Boots is intimately familiar with ski racing, high performance ski boot design and human anatomy. This new design is the easiest mid-entry boot to put on without compromising performance. UPZ ski boot’s superior fit from numerous adjustment options and cushioning engineered into the heel is endorsed by multiple Austrian physicians and the Austrian Ski Team doctor. Ski boots that are easy to enter, quick and precise with edge to edge power yet milder on knees and back; by UPZ.
Technical aspects: The 5Five and 4Four ski boots have a carbon composite subframe to stiffen the shell and reduce lateral flex. A stiffening rib is visible on the back of the ski boots to reduce flexion during a backward lean. On the subject of forward lean, UPZ ski boots have a 12 degree forward lean and a 7.5 degree ramp angle. The last or internal boot width is 99-100 mm.
UPZ ski boots have the shortest sole design in the industry for a lower moment of inertia and faster response to steering inputs. Visualize a flexed ski, unencumbered by a boot and a binding. The ski would be free to flex and create a beautifully smooth arc. Pressure exerted (lbs/square inch or kg/cm squared) at one concentrated point in the middle of the ski will be rewarded with that arc. Now visualize bonding an immobile, long block to the middle of that ski and pressing on the middle of the ski again. Two actions are now working against ski flex. The ski is now only able to smoothly arc towards the tip and tail, while being constrained in the middle by that stiff block. Secondly, the pressure used to force the ski to arc has now been distributed across the entire immobile block. It follows that by decreasing the length of that immobile object in the center of the ski, ski response, ski flex and skier pressure delivered to the ski will increase. As with mountain biking and MTB racing, so it goes with skiing and ski racing; small changes can be felt and make a difference. You will feel this difference.
UPZ ski boots are made with the highest quality parts and materials. The shells are made with polyamide 12, also known as nylon 12. It is exceptionally strong in freezing temperatures, is stress resistant, has high tensile strength, absorbs very little moisture and accepts heat molding by professional boot fitters.

Ski Boot Sizing for Perfect Fit.
UPZ Ski Boots are sold in mondopoint (mp) sizing. Your mondopoint is the length of your largest bare foot in centimeters (cm). For example, if this length is a maximum of 26.0 cm, then your boot size is 26mp.
See the size chart below, or on any ski boot product page, to line up your size. It differs slightly from the snowboard boot sizing chart, which is the one highlighted on UPZ’s FAQ page. Please refer to the chart associated with the specific boot you are ordering!
This is what is needed to ensure proper ski boot fit. The FAQ page gives more details on how to guarantee that you have received the correct boot for you!

SKI BOOT PARTS AVAILABLE FOR FINE ADJUSTMENT of YOUR FIT.
OUTER TONGUES: User-replaceable for tuning flex. Simply replace the outer tongue of the boot to alter its overall flex. The ski boots are sold with a silver tongue that has a flex rating of 130 mfi. To decrease the flex, replace silver with a dark grey outer tongue (mfi 150). To increase the flex of the boot, replace silver with a black outer tongue (mfi 110).
BOOTBOARDS: Used to reduce the volume of the footbed. Recommended for skiers with flat feet or low insteps. 6mm thick bootboards are placed inside the ski boot’s shell below the liner.
LINER TONGUES: Replacements are available in thick and thin versions, depending on whether you require more liner pressure, or less, against the top of your foot and shins for a better fit.
FLO LINER FOR SLIM FEET: When buckle adjustment on the outer shell is not sufficient, these thicker liners are perfect for slim feet and shins. This does not create a shorter toe box or alter the superior heel hold as felt in the standard liner.
FOAM LINERS: For skiers that prefer the ultimate fit, UPZ Boots manufactures injected foam liners for perfect fit in each of the six shell sizes.
SOFT SPOILER: Increases effective liner thickness to assist with thin shins and forward lean.
RCR SPOILER: Increases the height of the back of the ski boot for greater control.
ADDITIONAL SKI BOOT FEATURES WE LOVE TO HIGHLIGHT.
UPZ ski boots unique features exist for improved functionality, performance and comfort. Along with perfect fit, UPZ boots offer an array of parts for better performance. The 5Five and 4Four ski boots have a carbon composite subframe to stiffen the shell reducing lateral flex. A stiffening rib is visible on the back of the ski boots to reduce flexion during a backward lean. The top of the liner can be further stiffened and secured around the skier’s calf with the purchase of a ratcheted SHOXXTER PLUS POWER STRAP in place of the existing strap. UPZ ski boots have the shortest sole design in the industry for a lower moment of inertia; faster response to steering inputs. Ensure that the ride/relax lever is engaged while skiing; it can be released when walking. Lastly, for even greater adventure, TOURING SOLES can be installed in place of ski/DIN soles. We hope that with all these options, you are able to create your perfect day on the slopes!
